Today is my first day of class at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. Booya!
This term I am taking Hebrew 1, Systematic Theology, History of Christianity, and Personal Evangelism.
I’m excited. I’m also a little nervous because I forgot which classes I have when. Not to mention, I don’t have the room numbers. But, that just makes for a more exciting first day!
Most deeply, I feel grateful to be here. God, without doubt, has given us some things we asked of him. Although we do have some things that we are trying not to worry about, at the end of the day, it’s Him. It’s all Him, and we’re all His.

Yup. We’re now Memphites (Actually, we live in Cordova, a suburb, but Memphis sounds MUCH cooler).
The parents are gone. Now, it’s just the four of us in our new home for the next few years. Here’s the rundown:
- Classes start in about 2 weeks.
- I’m still looking for a shirt like the one pictured above.
- No job yet . . .
- House is still a wreck, but it’s all good.
- It’s H.O.T.
As far as a our departure from the Promise House goes, it went well. The girls knew we were leaving 3 months ago, so they had lots of time to adjust. That doesn’t mean there weren’t major tears shed, but I feel like everything was healthy and good.
It’s crazy that we’re here already. Crazy.
So, what does the move mean for familybush.com? Not sure yet. Probably less activity for a while. What with a full class load, part-time job (hopefully!), and a new baby. Things might slow down a bit once the semester begins. But, not completely.
We’re excited. Jesus is pulling us close to him. He’s allowing me to feel him again. Something that hasn’t happened in a while. More on that later. I just want to say it loud for now.

Class was good last week. It was, at times, difficult due to the fact that I hadn’t been in a classroom setting in years. So seven hours a day for five days was a little like running a 10K after two years of couch potato-ing.
I was supposed to read “The Training of the Twelve” by A.B. Bruce before the week of class. I didn’t due to my late entry, so I’m playing catch-up. Dr. Floyd agreed to give me until Friday to get it read. So, I’m reading. A lot. This is a substantial book. 544 pages.
Thankfully, it’s good. It is feeding me.
Unfortunately, it’s a bit dated. Bruce wrote this book in 1894. Back when they used words like spake and mirabilia, and the sentences were really really long. It’s like there was a shortage of periods or something.
