My parents and little brother made it into Peru Saturday night! It’s the first time for them to visit us in Peru . . . . and first time on a plane for that long! But they made it through the airports and custom’s lines with no problems. Then, on Tuesday morning, my mom had a letter for Sophia that I was to read to her. It said that her Aunt Jessica would be arriving in Peru that night!!! We were blown away, and very excited! So, now all the bush family is here enjoying the sights, sounds, tastes of Peru (they tried ceviche today) . . . . and of course Sophia!
Here’s some photos from our time so far.
It was only a few months ago when Dana came to our class for the first time. After class she came up to me and said she wanted me to have something. It was the program from her mother’s funeral. She started crying and said that she was not ok. I knew that she wasn’t. So, we started investing time in Dana. One thing that you notice about her when you first meet her is a gentleness and sweetness. Dana decided to give Jesus her life last month. She is, like she says, a new girl! A new ‘daughter of Jesus’. You can watch the video of her story above. It’s about 2 minutes long, so it’ll take a few minutes to load. Below is the transcript of the video.
Before I got here, my life was like . . . you know, I felt like I was alone . . . . I wanted to die. With a lot of problems in my house, in my life . . . without any hope. But, God blessed me because I got a new life, a new kind of life with him. My life changed a lot. I am still having the problems, but now I am strong. I am like a new girl. A new daughter of Jesus.
I am so proud to be here. Thanks for your help. I’ve spent beautiful moments, wonderful moments to help a lot of people. And you know, I am a new Christian. And I am helping a lot of people. That is also a new experience to me. Before, I was thinking in dying. But now, what would happen if I would die? I would not help other people. So, I feel like I’m useful and I have a lot to give . . . a lot do do here in this life.
I know also, that Jesus is with me everytime, every moment. And thank you all of you for this opportunity for be my friend. For give me help when I need it. You gave me a hand. You gave me more than that. And thank you for that. Thank you.
In the video below, Sophia is three and a half weeks old. She is trying very hard to roll over! It looks like she’s going to be very determined–like her daddy!
Yesterday we got Sophia’s birth certificate. Today we went to get her passport. Her Peruvian passport. This is the second step to making Sophia a citizen of the U.S. She’s not one yet. Right now she’s just Peruvian. Hopefully sometime next week she’ll be a citizen of the USA.
But, today we were able to get her passport in a very timely fashion! It was amazaing . . . they let us go to the front of every single line!! And there were a lot of LONG lines!! All because of Sophia……it was awesome! Here she is at home after she got her passport. She was pretty excited about it. She was so excited she wanted to take a nap with it.
