Segunda Vuelta
| May 9th, 2006The Peruvian elections took place last month. To become president of Peru you’ve got to obtain 50% of the votes. Because of the fact that there were close to 20 candidates . . . it was going to be very difficult for anyone to get that many votes. So . . . we have a run-off election here June 4th between Ollanta Humala and Alan Garcia.
Ollanta is a communist. Good friends with Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro. Has plans to nationalize a lot of the country’s natural resources (like Morales in Bolivia is doing), and make it difficult on foreigners.
Alan Garcia was president in the 80′s. During his presidency inflation was so bad people couldn’t afford bread.
