Puerto Viejo

The beach. There’s like 5 billion beaches in Peru. In fact, the whole western border is one big beach! So, I guess there’s not 5 billion beaches . . . there’s just one . . . . but it’s really really really long!

Anyway, we decided to visit one this morning for a few hours. Puerto Viejo se llama. About an hour outside of Lima. It was cool. We were the only people out there, except for a few surfers. We didn’t stay too long. Just enough time for Amanda to get cooked.

I did, however, learn how to drive on sand. Rule #1: Put your vehicle in High 4. Rule #2: Don’t slow down! Rule #3: Getting some speed up before you hit the soft sand.

I followed none of these rules (because I didn’t know them yet) and got stuck big time! I dug and dug and dug and dug . . . and put rocks and rocks and dug and dug. Finally this really cool surfer guy came and pulled us out and showed me how to drive on sand.

    Glad you broke free.

    Hope Amanda isn’t too scorched.
