Resolute I still am.

| January 15th, 2008

So far, so good on the new year’s resolutions.  I know, I know. I’m only two weeks into the year, but so far I’m feeling pretty good about the way things are going.

I fasted one day this month. I chose the traditional style of going without food. It was good. I mean, it was terrible, but it was good in that I learned some stuff. But, dang!, I got so hungry and irritable. I guess I’m a wuss when it comes to missing a meal.

I’ve been sending out (via the famous index card) sentences from the Bible. Maybe you got one?

Blogging I am. No problems there.

Also, we are working on adding at least one member to the Bush family this year. We’ll keep you updated on that!

Resolutions I need to get to work on: marathon, memorizing colossians, getting to know a family member.

How are yours going?

I am no good at fasting. I get a headache if I don’t eat. But I’ve done it several times and not sure if I learned anything other than I don’t like to miss food and I don’t know how Jesus did it for FORTY days.

I’m doing okay on finding a new hobby–starting up the sorority alumnae chapter is going to be interesting but good for me. And I had fun this past weekend, so that’s going well so far. As for the exercise and weight issues…haven’t been able to even start on that yet. It’s more of a goal than a resolution though. And with my thyroid all wacky, it’s going to take some real commitment.

Sorry to bombard you with all my info.

I resoluted to have no-resolutions this year. So far its working really well for me. Haha! I seriously think if I say I’ll eat better this month for the new year then I tend to eat more of exactly what I know I don’t need to eat. So that’s why no-resolutions for me. I’ll stick to dreaming of being healthier, better, and happier for everyone. BUT I do think if I blogged about this stuff more I would hold myself more accountable because i know people are watching.

My biggest goal right now is to drink more water. I made a decision that I could not have any diet sodas until I’ve had my water quota for the day. I’m thankful to say I’ve had my water quota EVERY DAY since December 26th. Yahoo!

Good for you on yours, too, Ryan.

Leann » I’m terrible at fasting too. I’ll have to tell you of the story about when I decided I was going to fast for 7 days one time. That was a disaster!

The alumnae chapter thing sounds cool. I was not in fraternity in college. It was one of those things where none of my friends were pledging . . . so I thought, “why should I?”

Susan » Blogging IS accountability! Isn’t that weird!? But, it really is to some degree. As for your resolution. That is hilarious! That’s a really good resolution.

Cindy Beall » I discovered a while back that when I drink water throughout the day . . . I feel better. Simple. But, I pretty much don’t do it.

Ryan, my only friend in college (my friend from high school who I was roomming with) pledged and I didn’t have any other friends. So, it was a good thing for me to find a group to get involved with because I don’t make friend very easily. And my sorority wasn’t the stereotypical type they show in movies and on TV. We were very “real.” All shapes and sizes. I loved it.
