I recieved the one finger salute.
| January 12th, 2008It happened yesterday on the way to Wal-Mart with virtually no warning. I did hear a faint honk from behind, but in a 15 passenger van with 6 teenage girls chatting away and a 1-month-old getting her two cents in it can be kind of hard to hear.
Anyway, the next thing I know a guy with a gotee pulls up and locks eyes with me. Then it happened. He lifted his fist and raised the flag . . . flew the bird . . . gave me the 1 finger salute. I was just hoping he wasn’t going to lower the flag and decide to use his fist for other things, like breaking my face.
I’m not sure what I did. Maybe I unknowingly cut him off. Or maybe he’s not cool with big vans full of pregnant teens. At any rate, I’m OK in case you were worried about me.
That was kinda funny. Sorry your life was in jeopardy but it made for a great blog post
In 2006 at Christmas time, this girl in a subcompact cut me and the hubs off and then proceeded to give US the one-finger salute. Nice. Not to mention classy.
Leann » Now that’s the holiday spirit! Did she have a gotee?
Haha–I didn’t see since she was the one who cut us off. All I could see was the back of her oh-so-lovely flip off.
I even posted about it on my blog that day and I think my title was “‘Tis the Season!”
the other day i busted out the old video camera to get some sweet footage of some of my Marine buddies living the dream. as i panned across the room one of my dear friends is flying the finger (totally ruining the shot.) we then broke into a ten minute discussion of how in the Marine Corps the bird is like saying “hey, your my friend, and i like you.” maybe the guy you saw was trying to be friendly as well.
That’s amazing. The marine culture uses this sign as a way to say hello. That reminds me of the whole ‘bad word’ deal. It all depends on context and culture.
This guy could’ve been a marine. His biceps were rather large. Not as large as yours of course, but large nonetheless.
I think Walmart makes people hostile especially their parking lots. Maybe he knew you were going there and wanted to go ahead and fly his flag. I am sure I have thought about flying my flag more than once in the past 10 years of driving in the city.
Susan » I would have to agree that Wal-Mart parking lots are a bit hostile. Kind of like what Legend must have felt when the sun went down on New York.
Exactly. Haha
